The concept for the cover of War Child Canada's annual report in 2005 was a reinterpretation of the historically rich image of the "red hand" used to represent many things from stop signs to social/political activism and transform it into a new meaning. With a large portion of War Child Canada's programs focused on rehabilitating child soldiers in Africa, the hand icon was transformed into a colourful children's hand print, made with paint. The African continent was then knocked out of the palm of the hand since that was the central location of their programming.
